ABOUT US

The Daves have been performing together for decades, in various groups and venues throughout the west. Having started as singing waiters (they can wait tables?!), they were soon demoted to full time performers (so they CAN'T wait tables) and headed to California where they helped found the seminal comedy/music troupe The Magic If, which had great success for many years.

Dave Boelke (pianist, composer, comedian) caught the ragtime and trad jazz bug as a kid and started playing professionally in high school, pounding the keys with jazz bands playing in roadhouses and bars.  With a growing repertoire that has expanded to include newer genres of music, Dave has played venues from the Big Apple to the Big Orange.  Describing himself as the world's smallest perfect man he hopes one day to get modeling jobs making Fiats and Mini Coopers look bigger.

Dave Marchant (multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer) got caught up in the Big Folk Scare of the late 20th Century.  He picked up a guitar and learned to sing and write songs so as to fit in and, more importantly, meet girls.  He played clubs, festivals, private parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs and Italian delis until forming The Magic If with Boelke, et al.  He was then ordered to learn mandolin, banjo, bass, kazoo, nose flute and harmonica and to everyone's surprise, he did!  His repertoire, which includes covers of classics as well as rare gems, runs the gamut from the heartfelt to the humorous.
